‘ASPIRE: Introduction to Higher Education’
A Summer School for refugees, asylum seekers, and forced migrants.
3rd July – 10th August, 2017
This pioneering collaboration is jointly organised by the Welsh Refugee Council and Cardiff University, with funding generously provided by the Pears Foundation. The Summer School is designed to provide refugees and asylum seekers with a taste of University life in the UK, and is absolutely free of charge to participants. Modules will be available in the following subjects:
- Intensive Academic English
- Introduction to Public Service Interpreting for Health
- Introduction to Business Management
- Peer Counselling and Mentoring
In addition, the programme will include tours of Cardiff University, talks from admissions tutors providing guidance on the University application process, and a mini-graduation ceremony on the 10th of August.

If you are intending to apply for the Summer School, then please do so as soon as possible. We anticipate places will fill up quickly, and spaces are allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis. The application deadline is 5pm, Monday the 19th of June 2017.
